Pathology of Amoebic liver abscess
Entamoeba Histolytica (Amoebic liver abscess) passes from the colon along the portal vein and enters the liver and resides there, usually in the posterosuperior portion of the right lobe. It lives there at the cost of liver cells, causing them to liquefy. In 70% more than one abscess are present. The pus from the abscess is chocolate-colored, typically described as 'Anchovy sauce'.
It is a complication of amoebic colitis.
Broken down liver cells, leucocytes, and red cells.
Pus is green if mixed with bile.
In about half the cases pus contains staphylococci, streptococci, E. coli.
In the remainder, the pus is sterile.
Charcot Leyden crystals on microscopic examination.

Males between 20 and 40 years
Patients are usually residents of the tropical or subtropical country
Sometimes presentation is delayed
Frequently there is a history of amoebic dysentery.
Early symptoms
Anemia, loss of weight, early complaints.
Pyrexia to 30℃ at night with profuse sweating. Rigor occasionally occurs.
Pain constant in the liver area is occasionally referred to the right shoulder.
Tenderness and rigidity
Enlargement of the liver.
Basal lung signs
Pain
Constitutional symptoms - nausea, malaise, sweating, weight loss.
Complication
May burst in lung
Peritonitis

Aspiration

Hepar sulphur: Stitching in the area of the liver when strolling, hacking, breathing, or contacting it. Hepatitis, hepatic boil, mid-region enlarged, tense, persistent stomach expressions of warmth.
Mercurius: Stabbing pain with chilliness. Boring pain in right groin. Flatulent detention, with pain. Liver enlarged, sore to touch, indurated. Jaundice. Bile secreted deficiently.
Belladonna: For redness, heat, pulsating, vicious torment, and consuming.
Silicea: Pain or painful cold feeling in the abdomen, better external heat. Hard bloated, Colic, cutting pain with constipation, yellow hands, and blue nails. Much rumbling in bowels. Inguinal glands are swollen and painful. Hepatic abscess.
Viper: When there is violent pain in the enlarged liver with jaundice and fever.
Ars album: Is another good medicine.
