BELL'S PALSY




Introduction

It is a condition of sudden temporary weakness in facial cause’s half face appear to droop. It’s one sided facial paralysis.



Causation
  1. Idiopathic
  2. C.V.A [cerebra vascular accident]
  3. Meningitis and Encephalitis
  4. Sudden exposure to cold air
  5. Injury
  6. Sometimes for the Diabetes, Severe hypertension, Dental anesthesia



Signs and Symptoms
  1. Unilateral facial paralysis develops suddenly
  2. May be aching pain behind the ear
  3. Mouth is drawn over opposite side
  4. Saliva may run from angle of mouth
  5. Eye on affected side can't be closed
  6. There facial droop and difficulty making facial expressions, like closing your eye or smiling
  7. Headache
  8. May be disability of taste
  9. Tongue deviates to healthy side
  10. Cheeks appear puffy


Investigation
  1. EMG [Electromyography] -- This test may be a confirmatory test for nerve damage
  2. CT scan
