Hodgkins Lymphoma

The pathogenic feature is the presence of classic Reed-Sternberg cells in the cellular background. It’s a bi-modal age distribution on at the '20s and others at 50's.

Etiology

1. Sex: Males more affected
2. Age: Early adult life
3. Onset: Insidious, slowly

Classification

1. Lymphocyte predominance
2. Nodular sclerosis
3. Mixed cell type
4. Lymphocyte depleted type

Symptoms and Signs

1. Large, rubbery superficial lymph nodes
2. One group of superficial lymph nodes enlarges
3. Hepato-splenomegaly
4. Mediastinal [mid- chest bone] or retroperitoneal lymph nodes could also be enlarged
5. Pain or paralysis may develop
6. Anemia, dizziness, headache may arise
7. Pulmonary infiltration
