Fissure in Ano



INTRODUCTION

It is an elongated breach or small tear within the lining of the long axis of the anus or anal canal. It can causes severe pain and sometimes bleeding occurs during stool or after movement.


CAUSATION

SYMPTOMS
  1. Pain during stooling, severe sharp agonising pain during defecation and lasting an hour or more

  4. Discharge
  5. Stools are streaked with bright red blood
  6. Burning or itching round the anus

ON EXAMINATION
  1. Digital examination and anoscope examination
  2. Sentinel tag within the chronic cases are often seen
  3. Manual rectal examination is another confirmatory diagnosis



MANAGEMENT
  1. High roughage diet
  2. Plenty or oral fluids
  3. Taking hip bath for relaxing the anal muscle
  4. Keep to stool soften

  1. Seitz bath after every defecation or stooling when there's pain
